Located at the junction of U.S. Highway 10 and Minnesota Highway 210, Staples is on the border between Todd and Wadena Counties — about 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis-St. Paul, about 150 miles southwest of Duluth-Superior and 110 miles east of the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Staples is served by two major highways, an airport and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
Staples is located at the junction of U.S. Highway 10 and Minnesota Highway 210. A survey in 2005 revealed that at that junction, there were 9,600 vehicles driving on Highway 10 and 5,600 vehicles driving on Highway 210 every day.
The Staples Municipal Airport has a 3,300 foot hard surface runway, 24 hour fuel service, courtesy car, tie-downs and T-Hangers available for lease.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad mainline tracks run through Staples. Approximately 50 BNSF and two Amtrak trains run through Staples each day. Opportunities are available to ship and receive product via rail.
