Lumberbat Baseball
The Staples Lumberbats, a men’s amateur baseball team, plays throughout the summer at the Pine Grove Park ballfield. The Lumberbats compete against other amateur teams in the Lake & Pine League.

Leader Pig Races
That’s right, pig races. Enjoy a night of food, fun and laughter at 7 p.m. every Friday and Saturday night from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend at the Bear’s Den in Leader. For more information, call (218) 397-2331.


Staples Railroad Days
Railroad Days is an annual town festival that falls on the fourth weekend in August. The festival features a Medallion Hunt, mini-golf tournament, city wide garage sales, the Still Cruisin' Car Show, a chili cook-off, a fireworks display, a parade, concerts, arts and crafts sales, a children's game area, used book sale, breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, a farmer’s market, a bean bag tournament, street dance, food booths and a free corn feed. Staples Area Men’s Chorus
The Staples Area Men’s Chorus consists of talented community members who enjoy performing musical theater, folk, pop and classical music. The Staples Area Men’s Choir strives to help young men find the joy and richness that singing brings to life.

Staples Area Women’s Chorus
The Staples Area Women’s Chorus performs a wide variety of music at concerts and community events. Women are invited to practice with chorus members from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays in the Staples Motley High School choir room throughout the fall and winter months. Central Minnesota Boys’ Choir
The Central Minnesota Boys’ Choir provides an opportunity for young boys to participate in a group that is challenging, enriching and rewarding, as well as to provide an opportunity to socialize with others who share the same musical values. It is the goal of the Choir to develop musical interest, leadership skills and talent among boys in Central Minnesota.

The Central Minnesota Boys’ Choir has performed at the Upper Midwest District Convention of the Associated Male Choruses of America, has appeared at Orchestra Hall with the Metropolitan Boys’ Choir, and has sung at the Minnesota Music Educator’s Association Mid-Winter Clinic in Minneapolis. They have toured to Duluth, Minneapolis, Grand Forks, Jamestown and Winnipeg.

Colla Voce, or “follow the voice” is a girls’ choir for adolescent girls. Colla Voce provides music-making experiences as well as educational opportunities for each girl to learn how to nurture her body, mind and spirit.

Productions and workshops put on by the Lamplighter Community Theatre promote creativity, interest and a love for theater. Performances are held at the Landmark Inn and Centennial Auditorium.

Prairie Fire Children’s Theater
The Prairie Fire Children’s Theater (PFCT), based in Barrett, Minn., brings quality theater opportunities to children in the Staples area. Local children audition and fill the roles of PFCT productions. After a week of rehearsing, the cast performs the play twice on the weekend.

Seek and Find Adventure Game

We invite you to visit some of our favorite outdoor spots in and around Staples.  We’ve hidden 8 geocaches –small, hidden containers (in public locations) listed by their GPS coordinates.   

Each cache holds a letter.  You will need to find all 8 to unscramble a secret word.  Succeed at solving this puzzle and you will earn a special token of your adventure. 

All Seek and Find locations are available on geocaching.com.  Pick up your Seek and Find Adventure instructions and entry form at the following locations: Staples Public Library, Staples Motley School District Office, Staples World, Central Lakes College (Staples), Staples Community Center and the Chamber of Commerce office.
