Located two miles west of Staples, the Dower Lake Recreation Area is home to the longest fishing pier in Minnesota. Built in 2008, the 612-foot pier makes fishing accessible for all ages. Dower Lake Recreation Area also includes a swimming beach, sand volleyball courts, softball fields, a Frisbee golf course, basketball court and horseshoe pits. There is a 45-unit campground, campsite boat dock and a picnic shelter.
Pine Grove Park
Pine Grove Park is located one mile south of Staples on Highway 210. Featuring beautiful white and red pine forests and ponds, Pine Grove Park is the perfect place for a nature walk. This park also has a large shelter with a kitchen and restrooms, two rustic picnic shelters, a playground, baseball field and horseshoe pits.
This community park provides a place to honor and remember those individuals who defended their nation and community. With a large flag, benches and memorial pavers recognizing those who have served, Veteran’s Park is a place to reflect and learn about the sacrifices local people once made for their country.
