Piecemakers Quilt Club
Piecemakers Quilt Club of Staples is a group of local quilters and sewers of all skill levels who gather monthly to learn and share their talents. Gatherings are at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at United Methodist Church in Staples. New members are always welcome. Contact Missie Daniels for more information at (218) 894-0021.
Barn Quilt Trail
Barn Quilts have a rich history as an artistic expression in rural areas throughout the United States. This year, 2016, the Greater Staples Area has joined the artistic revival with a new Barn Quilt Trail.
National Honor Society
The National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society are organizations that recognize outstanding high school and middle school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS and NJHS honor students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character (and citizenship for NJHS).

The School-to-Work program is designed to provide students with opportunities to participate in programs that integrate school- and work-based learning, vocational and academic education, and secondary and postsecondary education.

American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the ACS has 12 chartered divisions, more than 900 local offices nationwide, and a presence in more than 5,100 communities.

Healthcare Volunteering, Lakewood Health System
At Lakewood Health System in Staples, there are many volunteer opportunities available, varying in the nature of work, amount of patient contact, and physical activity. Whether you wish to come every week or once a month, we are glad to welcome you as part of our caring and attentive organization!
Lakes Area Bike Club
The Lakes Area Bike Club is a group of recreational cyclists who ride together on Tuesday nights throughout the summer in various towns including Staples, Wadena, Brainerd, Fargo, Ashby, Detroit Lakes, Sebeka, Menahga, Vergas, Frazee, Battle Lake, Ottertail, Dent, Perham, New York Mills, Deer Creek, Walker, Wolf Lake, Clarissa, Henning and Parkers Prairie.
A schedule is set at the beginning of the season and a cyclist from each town will be in charge of the ride for the week and get the honor of being the “ridemaster.” The ridemaster plans the ride and produces maps for the riders.
Little League Baseball
Through guidance and exemplary leadership, Little League assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being.

Red Hat Society
As a global society of women supporting and encouraging each other in their pursuit of fun, friendship, freedom, fulfillment and fitness, the Red Hat Society is dedicated to reshaping the way women are viewed in today’s culture. Snowmobile Club, Todd County Trails
With approximately 400 miles of groomed trails winding through the county, snowmobiling is a popular winter past time for local residents. For more information, please contact Bernard Mumm at (218) 894-1835.
Staples Motley Basketball Boosters
The Staples/Motley Basketball Boosters are a non-profit organization that provide support for K-12 boys and girls involved in the school basketball program.
Practices occur for K-3 graders on Saturday mornings while the 4-6 graders program runs December through March including four tournaments.
Basketball Boosters meet at 5:45 p.m. the first Monday of the month at the Senior Campus.
Still Cruisin’ Car Club
The Still Cruisin’ Car Club provides a great opportunity to meet and interact with other classic and antique car enthusiasts. The car club puts on the popular Ride the Dream Car Show every year.

American Legion Auxiliary
The American Legion Auxiliary supports and honors the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of veterans, military and their families, both at home and abroad.

Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts
The Boy Scouts of America is a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and develops personal fitness.

"Future Farmers of America" prepares future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population. FFA teaches that agriculture is not only a science, it’s a business.

Staples Volunteer Fire Department
The Staples Volunteer Fire Department protects Staples and 7 surrounding townships. This 23-member department trains weekly and works with modern equipment including a ladder truck, two pumpers, tankers and grass rigs.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that strives to eliminate poverty by building simple, decent, affordable housing.
Habitat partners with local businesses, volunteers, clubs and churches to help build homes with qualifying families. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses.
Kinship Partners, Inc.
Kinship is a non-profit volunteer mentor program that matches adults with children, ages 5 to 17, who for a variety of reasons, need a special relationship with a caring adult. Kinship promotes positive motivation and direction in youth by developing long-term friendships through mentoring relationships.
Wadena County Humane Society
The Wadena County Humane Society is a rescue and adoption point for dogs and cats of all ages. Some lost their home through the death of their best friend, some were not allowed in a rental unit with their owner, some needed to be surrendered due to life changing events, others had been abandoned or abused. Most of the animals would be an excellent companion with the right home, training, and care. When you are looking for your new companion come visit the Wadena County Humane Society.
Arc United serves people in 25 counties including Todd Wadena. Arc provides support and is an advocate for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities so they can have a brighter, more inclusive future.
Spring Clean Up - Community Pride Initiative
This initiative was created to assist with maintaining and increasing community pride within the Staples community. There are many opportunities available to communty members who want to voluteer such as Park and Downtown clean up days, Paint the Town program and an Area Clean Up day focusing on easy and cheap junk disposal. The intiative ends with a community wide BBQ as a thanks for all the hard work!
Lakes Area Pregnancy Support Center (LAPS)
